Frequently Asked Questions About Quartz Sourcing
What is the difference between JGS1, JGS2 and JGS3 fused quartz?
JGS1 is synthetic fused silica optimized for deep-UV transmission from about 185 nm and is used for UV optics and lasers. JGS2 is a fused quartz grade for UV-visible use from about 220 nm, common in windows, sight glasses and lamp covers. JGS3 is an IR-grade fused quartz with low hydroxyl content, transmitting up to about 3500 nm, used for infrared windows and thermal applications.
What temperature can your fused quartz products withstand?
Typical clear fused quartz can be used continuously at around 1100 °C and for short periods up to about 1450 °C. The softening point is approximately 1683 °C. Exact limits depend on wall thickness, thermal cycling and atmosphere, so we confirm suitability for each application.
Can you manufacture custom quartz parts from my drawings?

Each part is cleaned, individually wrapped and fixed in shock-absorbing foam inside export cartons or fumigation-free wooden cases. Long tubes and rods are shipped in reinforced crates to prevent bending stress and breakage.
